FOCAS provides "no-cost" assistance for the spaying and neutering of feral or stray cats only. FOCAS also provides referrals for assistance by other organizations with low-cost spay/neuter of owned animals.
For information on both FOCAS "no-cost" spaying or neutering for feral/stray cats only, or referrals for low-cost spaying or neutering of cats, dogs or rabbits, call the FOCAS Helpline: 201-943-4019.
The FOCAS Helpline is staffed by volunteers 7 days a week. Your call will be returned within 24 hours. When you call, listen for the prompt directing your call to the spay/neuter extension. Be ready to leave your name, address, day and evening phone numbers, and the type of animal you need assistance with. Please speak clearly, and spell your last name. There is no time limit to your message.
Unless you are spaying neutering a feral or stray cat, most veterinarians require that your pet be inoculated for both rabies and distemper at least two weeks prior to an appointment. Rabies shots are available at the Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro for Bergen County residents only. There is no charge. The Shelter’s number is 201-229-4600.
